Our Mission

Our Mission is to help people transform their health and wellbeing through the Pilates movement principles.

In the twenty-first century, people often spend more time sitting as opposed to doing something that requires movement. This is time spent sitting in the car or sitting at a desk. This leads to many health issues such as poor posture, low back pain, shoulder pain and general muscle weakening across the whole body.

Classical Pilates is Pilates in the most authentic format, as Joseph Pilates intended the exercises to be carried out. There are over 500 exercises to experience on the mat and varied Pilates apparatus.

Classical Pilates focuses on moving the entire body to improve the body evenly. In the Original Classical Pilates method, there is a sequence and method to the work, which has been designed to move the body through a whole range of movement. The Classical Pilates Method starts with Foundational Exercises to begin with and then as you build strength and control, the exercises become more complex. When practicing authentic Pilates, the method provides a variety of benefits to you and your body.

The benefits include;

  • Coordination
  • Strength
  • Mobility
  • Proper Posture
  • Improved Flexibility
  • Injury Prevention
  • Relief From Joint Pain

And more importantly, integration of the Mind, Body & Spirit.

Flow
Pilates routines and exercises are carried out through a gentle flow. This ensures that the various exercises on offer through Pilates is gentle and beneficial, regardless of your age or fitness level. Ease & Fluidity is the intention that Joseph Pilates applied to all the Pilates exercises and methods. The idea is that ease & fluidity encourage the body to move without struggle, even through the most difficult and testing challenges.
Breathing
Pilates is about improving your body, both Physically and Mentally. One important focus for your entire body is the breath. Like a lot of exercises, correct breathing is essential for a fulfilled, safe workout and Pilates isn’t any different. Regardless of what exercise you are doing within Pilates, you need to be breathing and inhaling enough oxygen into your body to ensure a safe workout. Joseph Pilates has been quoted as once saying “Breathing is the act of life, and the last... above all learn how to breathe properly”.
Concentration
The moves and challenges presented by the exercises within Pilates require you to focus on what you are doing and how you are doing it. Joseph Pilates knew that by concentrating on the movements that his students were doing with their bodies, that the results they would see would be beneficial to the entire body.
Control
Pilates is about stretch, strength and control. The importance of control is about using your mind to power your actions.” The Control Principle was created by Joseph and states that every Pilates exercise should be carried out with complete muscular control. He also stated that no body should be left to its own devices, it should be a conscious but specific movement that is fully controlled by the mind. Pilates was originally called Contrology and as a result, the Control Principle was created. He placed great emphasis on the importance of deliberately controlling every movement when performing the Pilates exercises. Pilates was originally called Contrology and as a result, the Control Principle was created. He placed great emphasis on the importance of deliberately controlling every movement when performing the Pilates exercises. He designed the Pilates Apparatus for this purpose too, as the apparatus requires complete control of the body to make sure that the pulleys and springs of the machines glide smoothly. However, for Joseph, Control was more than just about the body. Several of his first students said “Pilates is about stretch, strength and control. The importance of control is about using your mind to power your actions.”
Centering
Centering refers to the connection between your mind and your body as a whole. It’s about the center of your body, which is often referred to as the core or powerhouse and ensuring that the area of which the core covers is exercised properly. It includes your diaphragm, deep abdominals, pelvic floor muscles and multifidus. A strong & stable centre is essential to a good Pilates workout, as this is where your body movements originate from. It’s your mind and your centre that control your movements and control what your entire body is doing. The center is often referred to as the ‘core’ or ‘powerhouse’ which includes your diaphragm, deep abdominals, pelvic floor muscles and multifidus.
Precision
When it comes to Pilates, precision is what encourages your awareness, balance and control in the same, specific manner, every time. Focusing on precision enables you to be present and connected 100% throughout your Pilates workout.
